Zika virus alerts continue

Pan American Health Organization's (PAHO) data info advise there have been 31,780 Zika reported cases across the Americas, with the highest number of cases in Brazil (over 30,000), the other cases reported from Bolivia, Belize, Columbia, Paraguay, and Venezuela. Read more

Advice for travellers

Zika is spread by Aedes mosquitoes which bite aggressively by day and are found in urban setting, including leafy gardens and outdoor restaurants. Travellers should take particular care to avoid being bitten just after sunrise and just before sunset, the mosquitoes’ main feeding time.
