Malaria success certified

Malaria-free certification was granted to both Azerbaijan and Tajikistan by the WHO last week, signalling the successful completion of ‘a sustained, century-long effort to stamp out the disease’. Elimination is dependent on three consecutive years with no indigenous transmission and the capability to prevent its re-establishment.
