A series of typhoons and storms have hit the central region in the past month, leading to widespread flooding. News sources are now reporting that around half of the patients presenting with melioidosis at a hospital in the central city of Huế are from the flood-affected central provinces of Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.
