Many travel-related diseases, found mainly in developing countries, can
be prevented by vaccination. Vaccinations most likely to be recommended
for travel include: Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Tetanus/Diphtheria,
Influenza and Polio.
Others, less
commonly recommended: Yellow fever, Meningococcal meningitis, Rabies,
Cholera, Japanese encephalitis, Tick-borne encephalitis, Plague,
Measles/Mumps/Rubella, Varicella and TB.
Ideally,
vaccinations should be administered at least six to eight weeks prior to
departure.
